The "Little SQUIRT" was born in Arizona in 1941, three years after Herbert B. Bishop developed the drink from a non-carbonated juice product called Citrus Club. In 1946 the company went for a more national market for its citrus/grapefruit-based drink and today it is a major brand in the citrus carbonated category of the soft drink industry. Squirt was acquired in 1986 by A & W Brands Holding Company.
