RCA Nipper RoundItem #: -1284
There was a dog born in Bristol, England in the late 1800's by the name of Nipper. He was adopted by artist Francis Barraud, who was amused that the dog would put his "ear to the horn" of the phonograph every time it was played. That image, from a painting by Barraud entitled His Master's Voice, became one of the best-loved trademarks in America. In 1901, he came to the States as the trademark of the Victor Talking Machine Company and in 1929 moved on to the Radio Corporation of America (RCA). RCA Victor's Nipper celebrated his 100th birthday in 1984.
